FAQ

What's the best way to prepare for a waxing?

Hair should have 3-4 weeks of outgrowth. Longer is acceptable, but nothing shorter is recommended. For optimal results, make sure your skin is clean and dry. Avoid using lotions, oils, or creams on the day of your appointment but exfoliate the area a day or two before—the sooner you start this process the better as it will help release dead skin and loosen ingrown hair. Discontinue retinol-based products for two weeks before wax treatment. Accutane users typically pause medication approximately one month before waxing but please consult with your dermatologist prior.

How long does waxing last?

For best results, we recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks to maintain smooth, hair-free skin. Waxing damages the hair follicle causing your hair to grow back thinner and softer than before. Hair will also grow back slower than shaving—no more prickles! Depending on your hair growth and the area being waxed, typical results will last for 3-6 weeks.

Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?

Yes, waxing is suitable for most skin types including sensitive skin. Our gentle waxing techniques and hypoallergenic hard wax products are designed to minimize irritation. If you have concerns about sensitivity, please let our staff know and they can provide additional guidance.

How long does my hair need to be to get waxed?

Hair should have 3-4 weeks of outgrowth or about size of a grain of rice, which is approximately a quarter inch in length. Longer is acceptable, but nothing shorter is recommended. If your hair is not long enough, the service will need to be rescheduled because the wax will not be able to remove the follicle from the root. This will cause the hair to break and grow back faster. When in doubt, please reach out prior to your appointment.

What products do you use for waxing?

We exclusively use hypoallergenic hard wax designed to minimize discomfort and irritation. Hard wax is thicker than soft wax and works by adhering only to hair, not your skin. Once it cures, you can remove it with your hands so there's no need for waxing strips. This makes the process a lot less painful and more effective.

How should I care for my skin after waxing?

After waxing, it's essential to keep the treatment area clean and dry. For 48-72 hours, avoid touching the area, which means no sexy time. Avoid sun exposure, self-tanners, and tanning beds. It's also recommended to avoid sweating, so kickback and take a break from the gym. It's best to apply noncomedogenic lotions after a wax treatment and start exfoliating a week afterward. Pre and post care products are available to purchase at the studio.

I have a skin condition. Can I still get waxed?

If you have a skin condition, it’s crucial to consult with a dermatologist before getting waxed. In certain cases, waxing might not be recommended but our professionals can discuss alternatives or solutions suitable for your condition.

I'm pregnant. Can I still wax?

You can still wax while you are pregnant but with some exceptions. The sooner you start your journey the better. Begin waxing during your first trimester and ease into the process. That being said, if you are over five months pregnant and have not had a wax treatment performed by All American Beauty at lease twice in the past five months, we unfortunately cannot provide the service. Pregnancy hormones thicken hair and the swelling of your body. It will be an extremely uncomfortable experience and even more so during this time so it's better to wait or use alternative treatment methods.

Can I still wax if I'm on my cycle?

You certainly can. This is very common and your wax specialist will always keep it professional. If you are using a tampon or diva cup, you can continue with your appointment as scheduled. Just know that you may be slightly more sensitive than usual.

Can men use your skincare and waxing services?

Absolutely! Our services are not limited by gender. We welcome everyone and anyone seeking quality skincare or waxing treatments.

What if I accidentally get excited?

Nervous or afraid you will involuntarily get excited during a session? Even though this can be a natural reaction—after the first strip of hair is removed, your nerves should subside. Please be courteous and do not prolong your excitement. This is a professional setting with the sole purpose of skincare and waxing services. If you are here for any other reason, authorities will be contacted and you will assume full financial responsibility regardless if the treatment is completed or not.

How do wax and skincare packages work?

All packages are non-transferable meaning they cannot be transferred to another person. Services in a given package need to be used within 12 months from the date of purchase. After 12 months, the package will expire. There are no refunds for packaged services not redeemed within the initial 12-month period.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment (if not earlier). Clients will be charged a 50% service fee for cancellations or reschedules within a 24-hour period of the scheduled appointment. No call or no show situations will be charged 100% of the scheduled service.

Do you offer refunds?

All services and packages are non-refundable. This includes any associated fees such as gratuity, service, and convenience. All American Beauty will be more than happy to schedule a corrective service or additional treatments when necessary limited to a 48-hour period following the original service.
